June is a month for having Pride in who you are and where you come from. We celebrate all the Readers who came before us, and try to keep the path clear for all the Readers yet to come.
Juneteenth is a Celebration of Freedom. June 19th marks the commemoration of the end of slavery in the United States in 1865. For anyone wanting to read about the history surrounding the monumental event we have a wonderful non-fiction selection ranging from general Civil War history to our Black Studies section. We also have children's picture books to help start the conversation surrounding the federal holiday. However you choose to celebrate the day, there will always be books here to learn more about the history behind it all.
June is also PRIDE month. Again for those looking to learn more about LGBTQIA+ history we always have a non-fiction studies section available. For anyone wanting to read stories including characters or that were written by LGBTQIA+ authors, well you can visit our dedicated section or find them mixed throughout the store in the genres that fit the work the best. If you're not sure where a particular book or author might be shelved do not hesitate to ask us, we are always happy to help you find what you're looking for, and perhaps something you didn't expect to find along the way. Why buy one book when you can buy three? or four? Five? Just saying...
