First Edition, pp. 491 Purple Cloth Boards with gilt decorations to the front board and spine. 117 Black and White illustrations throughout. Boards have wear, tear, fading to the spine and areas of the boards. Bumping and tears to the corners. Tears to the head and tail of the spine. Previous owner's gift inscription on second free endpaper dated 'Christmas, 1871'. Tears and soiling to the endpapers inside the boards, and previous owner's book plate affixed inside the front board. Soiling to the spine/front board (believe it is paint dropped onto the book at some point). Still, Good Collectible First Edition.
