Upwards of seven hundred different species and varieties, comprising all that are known to exist on this continent are represented on the one hundred and nineteen crayon plates artistically drawn and colored by Theodore Jasper: including a letter press devoted to giving a popular account of their habits and characteristics based on standard authorities, and the most eminent writers on ornithology of the day. Bound in original full leather boards with gilt decorations and ornate titling on the front board and gilt decorations on the back board, it has been rebacked in contemporary leather with gilt titling. Boards have wear at the corners and along the edges, front hinge beginning to separate from the spine, internal hinges have been reinforced and there is evidence of where some of the pages have been repaired. Gorgeous full page color illustrations, a very nice item in good solid condition. . First Printing. Good.
